Chloe’s 6th Birthday

We had Chloe’s birthday party at Nana & Grandpa’s house this year. The biggest event was definitely the bouncy house!

Almost all the cousins and some of her friends came and everyone had a good time.

Layton & Kate got into a pretty heated discussion at one point; it was pretty funny!

Vacation in the Mountains

100_0245We went on a vacation with our friends, Katie and Garret, and Nana was able to come too! We stayed with Aunt Sharon in her BIG log home with her SIX fun dogs. Garret and Chloe couldn’t get enough of those dogs; they even wanted to sleep with them. We saw lots of waterfalls, mountain trails, and even went to Tweetsie Railroad. It was a great trip!

Ireland

Maren & I recently went to Ireland on holiday, and I thought I would share some of our pictures.

Packed and ready to go:

The Arlington Hotel, where we watched some Irish dance & music during our dinner.

Christ Church Cathedral, found in 1030.

Maren on the haf penny bridge (I didn’t realize that my camera flash was off so some of the pictures are blurry):

Blarney Castle, the famous “Blarney Stone”: to kiss this (which is supposed to give you gift of gab, you had to lean backwards over the wall while someone held you to keep you from falling to your death… we weren’t up for it!

The Cliffs of Moher (pictures do NOT do it justice):

Dunluce Castle: the family moved away after the kitchen collapsed into the ocean, killing the kitchen staff!

Giants Causeway: the rocks are lava that hardened naturally into hexagonal stones. Here’s Maren on the rocks and me on the Giant’s Foot.

The Irish Parliament:

Stags’ Head Pub: began as a watering hole in the 1890s. Maren had Irish stew and I wasn’t as adventurous (I had a panini sandwich). However, Maren got sick that night so maybe I was right!

All in all, it was a very fun trip. Driving was horrific (we got lost getting to our hotel every night), but the people were friendly and helpful. One lady even warned us not to get out of our car again until we got off the hill because we were in a dangerous part of town (the only scary moment of our trip). Chloe, of course, was sad not to come, but don’t feel too bad for her… she had a blast with Stacy and Annabelle while we were gone!
